I'M ALIVE!!!! 8DDDD My computer died way back in March of this year, so for over six months - I have been computerless!!! Which was OBSCENELY frustrating since I was JUST beginning to delve into semi-realism with my art!
Well, long story short - I STILL don't have a new computer to replace the old one. But I HAVE worked out a temporary method to work on some art ^^ Yay!~ 8D
BEHOLD!!!
This piece, I started THE DAY BEFORE MY COMPUTER DIED. There was no justice >> Oi. So I'm super happy to see it finally here, on DA, where it was meant to me. Finished and POSTED. Yup yup!
'Wake' was inspired by a poem I read one day - and very specifically, one verse in particular:
“Nor less cruel or less firm,
Convince us empty beds are best,
But would, with cold fingers,
Wake and never let rest.”
It stabbed at me with this sort of struggling desire that we all have. When life pulls us back and forth - catching us between hard decisions and painful memories - choking us without ever having the chance to truly WAKE and grasp what we're striving for. Held back from dreams and potential - suspended in silence. And it's just the way things are. That's just life, you know? It's flippantly cold and relentless. But we keep trying in spite of our inabilities and faults - we keep dreaming.

Whoo hoo for being alive! 8D Nice work Mellon, I like your last paragraph, so eloquently explaining the intent behind the painting. I also love the shading and realism work!
